"I wanted to follow up on Owen's message as well. As the Editor of CDN Publishing, I am helping oversee the transition. As I stated in the press release, I have been collecting and paying close attention to the paper money market for 25 years. I have also been a full-time numismatist for 13 years.
As many of you will appreciate, there is quite a difference between being solely a collector and making a living and a salary buying and selling coins and currency. While I have not personally met many of you outside the United States, I either know or am familiar with every major currency dealer in the world. This is what I am most excited about: pricing. It is fair for people to be skeptical, but I am going to enlist the assistance of many market makers to expand and update pricing continuously, especially for scarce to rare notes.
I understand the initial consternation regarding the downloading of PDFs, and it is something we continue to discuss internally. However, I wanted to make a couple points. First, PDF is already obsolete technology. Yes, it will be around a while but we are not interested in investing in and maintaining something that is becoming obsolete. Second, there is little doubt the BNB Chapters have been massively shared and distributed over the years. We have many options, so please allow us some conversion time and for us to roll out new methods of accessing the data. I hope that you will pleasantly surprised."
