Obsolete Banknotes. Michigan. Saginaw. The Saginaw City Bank, $5.00-A, Dec 1837. Bowen-3. Serial No. 305 payable to R. Bond and signed in ink by President Norman Little and Cashier Nelson Smith. Design features Cere leaning on pillar at center, ornate 5 on either side; right end with large ornate “5” and on the left FIVE. Serial Number, dates etc are all in contemporary ink. Imprint of Rawdon, Wright & Hatch, New York. This bank was organized on December 14, 1837 with $50,000 in Capital. The bank closed in 1838. Part of the Wild Cat Michigan banking history.
